Relief in Abstract would like to officially announce the addition of Orlando band, Out Go the Lights, to the roster. Out Go the Lights are the first band to be added to the label which marks a departure from our strictly electronic roots. Their new singles, "Big Balloon // Real States", will be released for streaming and digital download on Bandcamp, Soundcloud and digital retailers on October 15th. Out Go the Lights features previous Relief in Abstract collaborator Alex Clements, whose vocals have appeared on releases from MARBLE and most recently Fortune Howl's newest LP "Earthbound".
Out Go the Lights is a 3-piece indie band from Orlando, Florida, originating as a childhood project between lead singer/guitarist Alex Clements and drummer Allen Clark. Label-mate Bryce Linde, better known as electronic artist Fortune Howl, has recently been added to the lineup as the band’s bassist. Supporting a consistent underlying message of ambition and truth, Clements crafts honest lyrics that carry the band’s vocally-driven pop songs with a backbone of powerful drums and driving bass-lines. This, combined with blissful melodies and energetic live shows, has led press to describe them as being “incredibly natural pop-smiths” (Orlando Weekly).
“Big Balloon” encompasses the blinding joy and delirium that comes with sudden infatuation. Conversely, “Real States” is a meditation on complacency and self-authenticity when facing an inevitable end. "Real States" features contributions from musicians Todd Goldstein of Brooklyn bands ARMS/Harlem Shakes and Justice McLellan of Canadian band Ruby Coast.
